Background
Objectives
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this event to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in the area of CFD and VIV. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts in CFD and VIV will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program of this area will be developed.
Description
This symposium addresses issues associated with the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis in offshore applications, with an additional focus on Vortex-Induced Vibrations (VIV). Examples of topics to be addressed include:
Laboratory and field data for validation and calibration of numerical models
Flow around bluff bodies at high Reynolds numbers
Turbulence modeling
Benchmarking and validation of analysis tools
Wave run up & Green water effects on FPSOs
Roll damping
CFD modeling of ships and spars
Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) modeling
Riser & pipeline VIV
VIV suppression
Practical issues and examples associated with the implementation of CFD/FSI modeling for offshore applications
